Officially registered in 1952, Saaz is one of the four original Noble hops, with a history dating back over 700 years in Žatec, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic). Known for its classic warm, herbal aroma, it plays a key role in Bohemian Lagers, Pilsners, and Stella Artois. With low alpha acids, Saaz is primarily an aroma hop but can provide a delicate bitterness in early additions. High polyphenol content helps extend beer shelf life, making it a staple in traditional European brewing.
