LAB-COLOUR
We follow the following steps to measure beer colour using the European Brewery Convention (EBC) method: 1. Sample Preparation: ensure you send us a clear beer sample, ensuring it's free of particles. 2. Dilution: depending on colour intensity, we dilute the sample with distilled water at ratios of 1:1 or 1:4. 3. Spectrophotometry:we measure the absorbance at 430 nm using a spectrophotometer. 4. Calculation: the EBC value is calculated using the formula: EBC = (A × dilution factor) × 25, where A is the absorbance. 5. Result Interpretation: higher EBC values indicate darker beers. This method provides a standardised way to assess beer colour intensity.
