Benefits of Using Flaked Oats in Brewing: Creamy Mouthfeel: Increases body and smoothness in beer. Haze Stability: Essential for hazy beer styles like NEIPAs. Flavour Enhancement: Adds a mild, nutty sweetness. Foam Retention: Improves head retention and beer texture. Since flaked oats are pre-gelatinized, they do not require milling and can be added directly to the mash. However, when using high percentages, brewers often pair them with rice hulls to prevent lautering issues.
